Description

These Air Fryer Churro Bites are a quick and easy way to enjoy classic churros without deep frying! Made with a simple dough, air-fried to golden perfection, and coated in cinnamon sugar, these crispy and fluffy bites are irresistible. Perfect for a quick dessert, party treat, or just satisfying a sweet tooth!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg

For the Coating:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. 1. Make the Dough
  2. In a pan over high heat, bring water, butter, salt, and sugar to a boil.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and gradually add the flour, stirring continuously until the dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  4. Remove the dough from the heat and transfer to a mixing bowl. Let it cool for 4-5 minutes.
  5. 2. Add Egg & Vanilla
  6. Add the egg and vanilla extract to the cooled dough.
  7. Mix with an electric hand mixer until smooth and well combined.
  8. 3. Prepare the Air Fryer
  9. Transfer the mixture into a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
  10. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and spray the basket with nonstick spray (coconut oil spray works best).
  11. 4. Pipe & Air Fry
  12. Pipe bite-sized churros into the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded. You can also drop spoonfuls of dough if preferred.
  13. Lightly brush with melted butter.
  14. Air fry for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
  15. 5. Coat with Cinnamon Sugar
  16. In a shallow bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon together.
  17. Once the churros are done, immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar to coat evenly.
  18. If the coating doesn’t stick well, brush the churros with a little melted butter or spray with water, then roll in the sugar mixture.
  19. 6. Serve & Enjoy
  20. Serve warm and enjoy these crispy air fryer churro bites as they are or with chocolate sauce, caramel, or dulce de leche!

Notes

  • Ensure the dough cools slightly before adding the egg to prevent scrambling.
  • Use a star piping tip for the classic churro shape and ridges.
  • If you don’t have a piping bag, simply drop spoonfuls of dough into the air fryer for a “churro nugget” look.

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes for best results.
