Description

Beef and Cheese Burritos are a classic Tex-Mex favorite, combining seasoned ground beef with creamy cheddar cheese, all wrapped in a warm flour tortilla. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for weeknight dinners and can be customized with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • For the Filling:

    • 1 pound ground beef
    • 1 (10-ounce) can cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
    • 1/2 cup salsa
    • 1 packet taco seasoning (optional, for additional flavor)
  • For Assembly:

    • Flour tortillas
  • Optional Toppings:

    • Shredded cheese
    • Shredded lettuce
    • Diced tomatoes or pico de gallo
    • Sliced black olives
    • Chopped onions (white, red, or green)
    • Sliced jalapeños
    • Refried beans
    • Mexican rice
    • Additional salsa
    • Jalapeño ranch dressing
    • Taco sauce
    • Guacamole or sliced avocados
    • Sour cream
    • Lime wedges
    • Fresh cilantro
    • Tortilla chips or Fritos

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef: In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

  2. Prepare the Filling: Add the undiluted cheddar cheese soup, salsa, and taco seasoning (if using) to the cooked beef. Stir well to combine and let the mixture cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until heated through.

  3. Assemble the Burritos: Lay out the flour tortillas and spoon the beef and cheese mixture onto the center of each tortilla. Add any desired toppings.

  4. Fold and Serve: Fold in the sides of the tortilla and then roll it up from the bottom to enclose the filling. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Cheddar Cheese Soup: The can of cheddar cheese soup typically calls for adding water. For this recipe, do not add water; use the soup undiluted to maintain a thick and creamy consistency.

  • Topping Suggestions: Customize your burritos with a variety of toppings such as shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, olives, onions, jalapeños, refried beans, Mexican rice, salsa, guacamole, sour cream, lime wedges, cilantro, tortilla chips, or Fritos.

  • Serving Suggestions: These burritos pair well with sides like Mexican rice, refried beans, or a fresh salad.
