- 1 (8-ounce) block cream cheese, softened
- 1 (16-ounce) tub sour cream
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 cup cooked ham or bacon, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon hot sauce
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 (1-pound) round loaf bread (such as sourdough)
- 1/4 cup green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with foil.
- Prepare the Dip Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Add sour cream and mix until creamy.
- Stir in shredded cheddar cheese, chopped ham or bacon, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Prepare the Bread Bowl:
- Using a sharp knife, slice off the top of the bread loaf.
- Hollow out the loaf by removing the soft interior, leaving about a 1-inch wall to hold the filling.
- Save the removed bread pieces for dipping.
- Fill and Bake:
- Spoon the prepared dip mixture into the hollowed-out bread loaf.
- Place the loaf on the baking sheet and wrap it in foil.
- Bake for 25 minutes, then unwrap and bake for another 5–10 minutes until the filling is hot and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve:
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with sliced green onions.
- Serve warm with reserved bread pieces, crackers, or fresh vegetables. Enjoy!
