Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Breadsticks:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 100°F-110°F)
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt

For the Garlic Butter:

  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Activate Yeast:
    1. In a stand mixer bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Prepare Dough:
    1. Add flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Using a dough hook attachment, knead on low speed until a soft dough forms.
  3. First Rise:
    1. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  4. Shape Breadsticks:
    1. Punch down the dough and divide it into 16 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 7-inch stick and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Second Rise:
    1. Cover the breadsticks and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
  6. Bake:
    1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Bake breadsticks for 12–14 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Garlic Butter:
    1. While breadsticks bake, mix melted butter with garlic powder and salt.
    2. Brush the garlic butter over the hot breadsticks immediately after removing them from the oven.
  8. Serve:
    1. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the water is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast properly.
  • For a softer texture, avoid over-kneading the dough.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container. Reheat in a warm oven for a few minutes to restore softness.
