For the Breadsticks:
- 1 1/2 cups warm water (about 100°F-110°F)
- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 4 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 teaspoons salt
For the Garlic Butter:
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Activate Yeast:
- In a stand mixer bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Prepare Dough:
- Add flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Using a dough hook attachment, knead on low speed until a soft dough forms.
- First Rise:
- Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Shape Breadsticks:
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 16 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 7-inch stick and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Second Rise:
- Cover the breadsticks and let them rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Bake breadsticks for 12–14 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Garlic Butter:
- While breadsticks bake, mix melted butter with garlic powder and salt.
- Brush the garlic butter over the hot breadsticks immediately after removing them from the oven.
- Serve:
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Ensure the water is warm (not hot) to activate the yeast properly.
- For a softer texture, avoid over-kneading the dough.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container. Reheat in a warm oven for a few minutes to restore softness.
