Scale
- 2 slices sourdough bread
- 2 fresh jalapeño peppers
- 2 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 2 slices cooked bacon (optional)
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Roast Jalapeños:
- Place jalapeños under a broiler or over an open flame until skins blister and blacken.
- Transfer to a bowl, cover, and let steam for 10 minutes.
- Peel off the skins and remove seeds for a milder flavor, or leave seeds for extra heat.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Mix:
- In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese with a pinch of garlic powder, onion powder, and salt for added flavor.
- Assemble the Sandwich:
- Spread the cream cheese mixture on one slice of bread.
- Top with roasted jalapeños, bacon (if using), and shredded cheddar cheese.
- Place the second slice of bread on top.
- Grill the Sandwich:
- Heat a skillet over medium-low heat.
- Butter the outside of the sandwich and place it in the skillet.
- Grill for 3–4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is fully melted.
- Serve Hot:
- Slice the sandwich in half and enjoy the ooey-gooey, spicy goodness!
Notes
- djust Spice: Remove seeds and membranes from jalapeños for a milder flavor. For extra heat, keep the seeds intact or add a dash of hot sauce to the cream cheese.
- Perfect Melt: Cook over medium-low heat to melt the cheese evenly without burning the bread.
- Customize Fillings: Add bacon for smokiness, avocado for creaminess, or swap cheddar for pepper jack for an extra kick.
