Description

This Roasted Jalapeño Popper Grilled Cheese combines the creamy, spicy flavors of a jalapeño popper with the crispy, cheesy comfort of a grilled cheese sandwich. Perfectly roasted jalapeños, cream cheese, and cheddar make this sandwich a must-try for any cheese lover!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 fresh jalapeño peppers
  • 2 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 slices cooked bacon (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

  1. Roast Jalapeños:
    1. Place jalapeños under a broiler or over an open flame until skins blister and blacken.
    2. Transfer to a bowl, cover, and let steam for 10 minutes.
    3. Peel off the skins and remove seeds for a milder flavor, or leave seeds for extra heat.
  2. Prepare Cream Cheese Mix:
    1. In a bowl, mix softened cream cheese with a pinch of garlic powder, onion powder, and salt for added flavor.
  3. Assemble the Sandwich:
    1. Spread the cream cheese mixture on one slice of bread.
    2. Top with roasted jalapeños, bacon (if using), and shredded cheddar cheese.
    3. Place the second slice of bread on top.
  4. Grill the Sandwich:
    1. Heat a skillet over medium-low heat.
    2. Butter the outside of the sandwich and place it in the skillet.
    3. Grill for 3–4 minutes per side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is fully melted.
  5. Serve Hot:
    1. Slice the sandwich in half and enjoy the ooey-gooey, spicy goodness!

Notes

  • djust Spice: Remove seeds and membranes from jalapeños for a milder flavor. For extra heat, keep the seeds intact or add a dash of hot sauce to the cream cheese.
  • Perfect Melt: Cook over medium-low heat to melt the cheese evenly without burning the bread.
  • Customize Fillings: Add bacon for smokiness, avocado for creaminess, or swap cheddar for pepper jack for an extra kick.
